Creative Ways to Keep Your Child Engaged These June and July School Holidays

The June and July school holidays are a chance for young people to recharge, explore new interests, and spend time with friends away from the classroom. While the break from school is often welcomed, many parents also know that keeping children engaged for two weeks can be a challenge.

School holiday programs at Play on Stage can be a wonderful way for your child to balance fun, learning, and social connection during the break. Whether your child loves performing, storytelling, or simply using their imagination, there are plenty of ways to help them stay active and inspired throughout the break.

If you are looking for a welcoming environment where your child can stay engaged, make friends, and explore their creativity, Play on Stage has several exciting holiday programs running these June and July school holidays.

Holidays Gone Galactic

One wrong turn. Ten strange planets. Zero gravity.

Our flagship four-day holiday program invites young people from Prep to Grade Nine to create and perform their own original theatrical adventure. Working alongside our experienced facilitators, participants will explore acting, improvisation, playwrighting, and ensemble collaboration as they bring a brand new story to life.

Students are split into age appropriate groups and spend four days developing their ideas before presenting their finished performance at a local theatre venue. For young people who love storytelling, imagination, and working creatively with others, Holidays Gone Galactic offers an unforgettable holiday experience.

Play in a Day

For students who want to experience the excitement of creating theatre in a single day, Play in a Day provides the perfect creative challenge.

Participants work together to devise, rehearse, and perform a ten minute original play inspired by a creative stimulus. Along the way, they develop skills in storytelling, acting, problem solving, and collaboration. Friends and family are then invited to watch the finished performance during the final part of the day.

It is a fun, fast paced program that gives young performers the opportunity to experience the full creative process from beginning to end.

Whether your young person already loves musical theatre or is looking to try it for the first time, this program offers a welcoming space to build confidence and creativity while having fun.

All programs are facilitated by experienced theatre practitioners in a safe, supportive, and creative environment. They also provide parents with peace of mind, knowing their child is spending the day engaged in meaningful activities while building confidence, friendships, and creative skills.
