Upcoming Auditions: The Paige Turner Bookshop

We are looking for actors of all ages to be a part of our second mainhouse work 'The Paige Turner Bookshop’. The performance season is from 17th-25th of October, with weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, with Monday-Tuesday rehearsals during the holidays and scattered dates. This is a professional production; meaning that all young people will be paid.

About the Paige Turner Bookshop.

When six young people visit the new neighbourhood bookshop run by the mysterious Miss Paige, all they are looking for is a good read. What they find within those walls are stories they could never expect.

Written by Harry Fritsch and directed by Virag Dombay, 'The Paige Turner Bookshop' is a new original Brisbane youth play about the power of books and how stories can help us find meaning in our lives. Filled with heart, humour, warmth, emotional depth, and just a dash of magic, this production is sure to surprise and delight every member of the family.

Roles Available.

  • MISS PAIGE (Adult Female) - a mysterious yet charming bookshop owner who wants to finish a book for which she only has the final chapter. 

  • KAIDEN (Teenage Male) - the older brother of ROSIE, Kaiden is a hopeless romantic but struggles to communicate his feelings.

  • GEORGIA (Teenage Female) - a fan of romantasy novels who also wants to become an author herself. 

  • ROSIE (Child Female) - younger sister of KAIDEN, is the vice-captain of the school’s under-12’s girls soccer team and loves reading soccer-related manga. 

  • ROBIN (Child Female/Male) - obsessed with explosives and finding out about new science experiments they can use to cause a big mess. 

  • JUDE  (Child Female/Male) - a hardworking, grades-focused student who spends most of their time studying. 

  • CHELSEA (Child Female) - a quiet young girl who spends most of her time lost inside the worlds of books.

What to expect at the audition.

In the audition session, you will need to do a number of improvisational activities, as guided by the director as well as participate in some cold reads from the script. Please wear clothes that you are comfortable in moving around in. 

Audition Times.

Auditions will take place on Wednesday the 12th of August (EKKA Public Holiday).The audition times are as follows: 9am-9:30am (FULL), 9:30am-10:00am, 10:00am-10:30am, 10:30am-11:00am (FULL)

Auditionees need to arrive 10 minutes prior their audition time. The audition location will be 97 Fernberg Road, Paddington. You will need to fill out your audition formand check your availabilities against our rehearsal and performance schedule. Work Experience and Internships

We provide work experiences and internships for high school students and emerging artists. These experiences range from shadowing one of our facilitators to sitting in on one of our rehearsals for an upcoming production.
