"The Playground in the Sky is the first show that I have seen that offers a mature reflection on the impacts of natural disasters on young people. It didn’t shy away from the triggering effects of sirens and rainfall, the impact of displacement and loss, and the different ways in which members of families respond to life’s many challenges—including through play, fantasy, dreams, and games. I am so pleased I had the opportunity to see the premiere of this excellent new work by Harry Fritsch (Playwright), and to be yet again impressed by the work of Virag Dombay."

"The play not-so-subtly introduces the idea that swearing activates a more primitive part of the brain, something playwright Nicky Peelgrane explores with real curiosity and humour. The show doesn’t shame children for finding taboo language fascinating. It simply asks: what if we had better tools?

"This is a beautifully directed professional ‘young adult’ performance of an excellent piece of new writing"

"There were audible adult gasps and giggles throughout. The sarcasm and dry wit land even harder because they’re delivered by children. There's something just deliciously funny about a tiny human delivering sharp commentary. There are also sweet moments of audience interaction, where Kate asks open-ended questions and the crowd may shout back suggestions. It creates a sense of shared problem-solving and empowerment."

"There’s nothing quite like Verbatim Theatre. It’s an experience that no other medium has ever effectively captured. And no other style has quite so succinctly proved theatre’s capacity for inciting social progression. There is something powerful about watching a drama unfold and knowing these are not the contrived words of a playwright sitting at a computer screen, but the real words, real experiences and real stories of the people beneath the text. It can be joyous. It can be challenging. It can be philosophical. And Dear Adults, presented at BackDock Arts, is all three."

“It’s an important show for adults and their children. It’s a show where you could take your child to and be entertained, but also be educated and most importantly a chance to create a discussion and engage with children around their fears, concerns, or complicated questions that they are looking to have answered.”
Jayden Martin, Nothing Ever Happens in Brisbane on ‘Dear Adults…’
