Big News: We are Recipients of the Australian Cultural Fund’s Boost Grant
We are really excited to announce that Play on Stage is one of the recipients of the ACF’s (Australian Cultural Fund) Boost Grant. What does this grant mean? It means that any fundraising that we do will be matched by the ACF. For example, if you donate $5 that equals to $10 as the ACF will match your donation.
We are using this platform to support fundraise for our second mainhouse work of the year, ‘The Bookshop Clique’. This will be a new original play written by our resident playwright and Marketing Specialist, Harry Fritsch, about a group of young people who find purpose through literature. Our aim is to stage this production is a local theatre venue in the latter half of 2026.
‘The Bookshop Clique’ is about young people facing various challenges and hardships, while discovering community, art, and healing via a mysterious bookstore that always has the perfect book for what the characters need in that moment. This project will be targeted towards the young people of Brisbane, showcasing the lives of children and teens living through the turmoils of being an adolescent in the age of social media, climate change, political uncertainty, and the usual stresses associated with youth--friendships, anxiety, dating, stressful family dynamics, and so much more.
How can you donate?
Firstly, you can click on this link and donate whatever amount you feel comfortable and willing to offer. Any support is greatly appreciated and will go directly towards strengthening our ability to produce and create high-quality works for the young people of Brisbane.
And/or you can attend our upcoming Play on Stage Birthday Bash! That’s right, at the end of March, Play on Stage will officially be turning ONE as a youth theatre company and a business in its own right. Being held on the 28th of March at 7pm at the Briswest Centre in Paddington, the Birthday Bash will be a wildly fun evening of cabaret sets from some of Brisbane’s most talented performers.
The Birthday Bash has been designed as a celebration for everyone involved with Play on Stage, from our students to our facilitators to all of our friends in the local arts scene. Every member of the family is welcome to attend this event, with ALL proceeds made from ticket sales and bar sales going towards the fundraising of our ACF Boost program.
You can book your tickets to our Birthday Bash here.
Is there any other way you can support this fundraiser?
Certainly! A percentage of the profit made from our upcoming production of ‘Bleep Quest’ will go towards our ACF Boost fundraiser. This exciting new work performed by some of our most talented young actors will be staged at the Ron Hurley Theatre in Seven Hills on Friday February 27 and Sunday March 1.
You can book your tickets to ‘Bleep Quest’ here—and as we said, a percentage of these sales will be going towards the fundraising of our next original work, ‘The Bookshop Clique’.
Thank you so much!
Once again, we are incredibly grateful to the ACF for accepting our submission into their Boost program and cannot wait to undergo this fundraising process and begin creating this new program. You will be able to donate to our Boost project up until the the end of April this year, and any support is deeply appreciated.
